Born and raised in Kenya, Maureen moved to the United States in pursuit of greater opportunities and a better future. Two years ago, she chose to join the U.S. Air Force with a simple but powerful goal: to build a strong foundation as a first-generation immigrant in America. What began as a path toward stability and opportunity soon became something far more meaningful.
Through her time in service, Maureen discovered a sense of purpose, belonging, and inspiration through the people she served alongside. The U.S. Air Force became more than just a career — it became a second home. Through military service, she earned her American citizenship, developed valuable professional skills, and gained opportunities for growth and education that helped shape her future.
Her journey also taught her the importance of showing up for others, creating positive impact, and advocating for those who come after her. When Maureen first joined, she did not have someone who shared her background or experiences to guide her through the process. That experience became the foundation of her purpose today.
Now, Maureen is passionate about supporting future Air Force applicants, especially immigrants and first-generation Americans navigating the challenges of building a life in a new country. Through American Dream Force, she hopes to provide honest guidance, mentorship, encouragement, and accurate information so others can feel confident in their decision to serve.
Her mission is rooted in advocacy, mentorship, and service — helping others realize that their background does not limit their future and that the American dream is achievable through dedication, resilience, and hard work.
